Fibank and Bitpanda Partner to Bring Crypto Access to Mobile Banking App
Bulgaria's First Investment Bank and Bitpanda GmbH have signed a strategic partnership to embed crypto asset services directly into the My Fibank mobile app.
Bulgaria's First Investment Bank, operating under the Fibank brand, and Vienna-based Bitpanda GmbH have announced a strategic partnership that will give Fibank customers direct access to cryptocurrency asset services through the bank's existing My Fibank mobile application, the companies announced from Sofia on Oct. 12, 2026.
The agreement represents a notable step in the integration of regulated European crypto infrastructure into traditional retail banking channels. Bitpanda, known for providing white-label investment technology to financial institutions, will supply the technical backbone that enables Fibank customers to interact with crypto assets without leaving the bank's native mobile environment.

The partnership reflects a broader trend among European banks seeking to meet growing customer demand for digital asset access while leveraging established fintech providers rather than building proprietary crypto platforms. By routing services through Bitpanda's infrastructure, Fibank can offer the capability under an existing regulatory framework rather than pursuing a standalone crypto license.
Details on the specific range of crypto assets available, fee structures, and a precise consumer launch date had not been disclosed in the initial announcement. The collaboration is positioned as a long-term strategic arrangement rather than a limited pilot, suggesting both institutions anticipate sustained demand for embedded crypto services within conventional banking apps.
