Myriad Genetics, SOPHiA GENETICS Team Up on Prostate Cancer Genomic Tool
The two companies will collaborate to advance a prostate cancer-specific genomic instability score technology aimed at precision oncology and companion diagnostics.
Myriad Genetics and SOPHiA GENETICS have entered into a new collaboration focused on advancing a prostate cancer-specific genomic instability score, known as PrGIS, a technology designed to support precision oncology applications and companion diagnostics development.
The partnership centers on refining the PrGIS tool, which is intended to help clinicians better characterize genomic instability in prostate tumors — a key factor in determining how patients may respond to targeted therapies. Companion diagnostics, or CDx, are tests developed in parallel with specific treatments to identify patients most likely to benefit from a given drug.

Precision oncology has become an increasingly critical frontier in cancer care, with genomic profiling tools playing a central role in guiding treatment decisions. By combining Myriad Genetics' established expertise in hereditary cancer testing and genomic analysis with SOPHiA GENETICS' data-driven platform capabilities, the collaboration aims to push PrGIS technology closer to clinical and regulatory readiness.
Prostate cancer remains one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among men in the United States, and the development of genomic tools tailored specifically to the disease could have significant implications for how oncologists stratify patients and select treatment pathways. The PrGIS score represents an effort to move beyond generalized genomic instability measures toward a prostate-specific benchmark.
